This bold image of the view from the summit of kunanyi / Mt Wellington shows just how high this imposing place towers above the city of Hobart below. The twinkling lights of the city contract to the dark line of the Derwent River. The rugged and futuristic viewing area reflects the lights of the city on its windows and also directs our gaze to an aurora. The Southern Lights (aurora australis) can occasionally be viewed from this southern most part of Australia.
