The current range of animal puzzles are all Tasmanian animals.

Little Penguins : As the stars fade and the sun rises, the Little Penguins make their way out to sea to fish. They
leave their chicks in the burrows near the shoreline, awaiting their return at sundown to be fed.
At only 30cm tall and 1.1 kg, they are the smallest penguin species in the world.

Wombats on Maria Island : Maria Island / wukaluwikiwayna is a mountainous island located off the east coast of Tasmania. The island was named in 1642 by Dutch explorer Abel Tasman after Maria van Diemen (wife of Anthony van Dieman the Governor General of the Dutch East Indies). Remnants of a former penal colony can be explored on the island. It is also home to many species of native animals  including wombats. Maria Island National Park is accessible from Triabunna.

Tasmanian Devil : The Tasmanian Devil, is the largest carnivorous marsupial. It has black fur with some white patches and makes a loud screechy noise. Despite its feisty image, it is a shy creature that  prefers to live alone or in small family groups.

Platypus: Tasmania’s shy Platypus leaves its deep creek- bank burrow and dives down to search for food among the pebbles and mud of the creek-bed.

Little Penguins at Low Head : Little Penguins are the smallest penguin species in
the world. Only 30cm tall and 1.1kg. They are flightless seabirds who breed in colonies along the southern coast of Australia, with colonies at many locations around the Tasmanian coast ,including Low Head at the entry to the Tamar River.

Pot bellied Seahorses :The pot-bellied seahorse, is the largest species of seahorse in Australia and one of the largest  in the world. It is found among algae, seagrass and rocky reefs in shallow water.

Echidna : Echidnas are medium-sized, solitary mammals  covered with coarse hair and spines. They are powerful diggers, with the hind claws facing backwards to assist with digging. They use their long sticky tongue to collect ants and termites. Echindas produce a single egg, the young being called a puggle. It sucks milk from pores within it’s mother’s pouch.  Echidnas and platypus are the only living examples of monotremes.

Weedy Sea Dragon.: Weedy Sea Dragons are a marine fish related to seahorses. Reddish in colour, with yellow and purple markings; they have small leaf-like appendages providing camouflage.
